Looking for a good read over Spring Break? The POPGE Office of Student Engagement & The Peabody Library invite you to join in a dinner and book discussion with this semester's Iris Book Club selection: Pale. Pa. Ale. Speak. Don’t Leave by Valencia Clement. Pale. Pa Ale is an autobiographical collection of poetry. It features poetry on the following topics: constructing a sacred self, family, education, divine love and acceptance, romantic love, war and eventual heart break, and death. Clement says, "Ultimately, my creative journey has been a pursuit of truth, embodiment, representation and immortality. After spending years in school reading what “critical scholars” thought about Blacks, Haitian migrants, Queer folks, Women, Christians and Scholars, I knew that I had to reclaim my truth and share my perspective with the world. I hope my work and story empowers other people to express their collective histories through creative expression”. Please be sure to RVSP for dinner and discussion! Stop by to pick up one of the available copies in Peabody Admin 216 before they run out! The first 50 to RSVP by March 11th will receive a free copy. If you need the book in an e-version format, please let us know at email@example.com and we will be happy to accommodate you. We look forward to seeing you there!
