Daniel Reinker, viola

with Melissa Rose, piano, and Sandra Simon, soprano

Blair professors Daniel Reinker and Melissa Rose are joined by guest soprano Sandra Simon for a concert featuring music of Johannes Brahms and Paul Hindemith.

Brahms’ Zwei Gesänge, Op. 91, are scored for the expressive and rich combination of voice, viola and piano.  The songs were composed for his friends, violinist Joseph Joachim and singer Amalie Weiss.

Hindemith was an accomplished violist who composed a large number of works for his own performances. The Sonata for Viola and Piano, Op. 11, No. 4 was one of his earliest, influenced by Hindemith’s experiences in WWI, as well as the death of Debussy.

This event is free and open to the public. Parking for this event is available for free in West Garage (2500 Children's Way) through the Children's Way entrance.
