8 p.m.
Ingram Hall
Vanderbilt University Orchestra
John Concklin, conductor
and Vanderbilt Wind Symphony
Thomas Verrier, conductor
The orchestra blends cutting edge and classic in a program that includes Caroline Shaw’s 2011 “Entr’acte for String Orchestra” and Ravel’s Valses Nobles et Sentimentales. The wind symphony spotlights the winners of the “Call for Scores” student composer competition and the winner of the 2018 Concerto Competition. They also perform Frank Ticheli’s American Elegy, in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Columbine school shooting, and Alfred Reed’s El Camino Real.
Presented with gratitude to Martha Ingram for her generous support of the Blair School, made in memory of Kenneth Schermerhorn to honor his 22 years as conductor of the Nashville Symphony
This event is free and open to the public. Parking for this event is available for free in West Garage (2500 Children's Way) through the Children's Way entrance.
