The Blair School invites three distinguished public school band programs to join the Vanderbilt Wind Symphony for this musical celebration. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. with performances by Bellevue Middle School (Paul Waters, director) and Oliver Middle School (Susan Waters, Katie Harrah and Kevin Jankowski, directors), with onstage workshops by Erin Charles. At 8 p.m. the festivities continue with a concert featuring Stewarts Creek High School, conducted by Debbie Burton and Michael Chester, and the Vanderbilt Wind Symphony, conducted by Thomas Verrier with piano soloist Karen Ann Krieger. The Wind Symphony’s program, titled “Broadway and Beyond,” will include Leonard Bernstein’s Profanation, from Symphony No. 1, Jeremiah (arr. Frank Bencriscuitto), George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue (arranged by Thomas Verrier), and Robert Russell Bennett’s Symphonic Songs.
