Alex van Duuren, trombone and bass trombone

Devin Lyon, piano

Alex van Duuren currently serves as assistant professor of trombone at the University of Tennessee, where he is responsible for private and class instruction of undergraduate and graduate trombone and bass trombone students, as well as performing with the UT Faculty Brass Quintet. Van Duuren is equally versed in classical and jazz genres, serving on faculty with the world-class jazz area at UTK. 

Devin P. Lyon is an attorney for Arnett, Draper, and Hagood, LLP (Knoxville) and the Director of Music at Colonial Heights United Methodist Church. He is originally from Kingsport, and is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and the University of Tennessee, where he received his J.D. and M.B.A. Lyon began playing piano at age 4, studying with Danny Fleming (organist at CHUMC, Kingsport), Marilyn Davis and Craig Nies (Vanderbilt University). 

Van Duuren and Lyon will perform pieces by Stjepan Šulek, Juraj Filas, Franz Schubert, and Alexey Lebedev.

This event is free and open to the public. Parking is available in the West Garage (2500 Children's Way) free of charge.
