"Discussion about the work of Edna Foa /Anke Ehlers-Prolonged Exposure vs Cognitive Therapy for PTSD"
In the aftermath of the recent Christine Blasey Ford testimony at the Kavanaugh hearings I thought we would take a look at the two leading approaches to the treatment of PTSD. We start with a depiction of prolonged exposure as developed by Edna Foa that first appeared on Dateline about a decade ago and then follow with kinder gentler but no less effective approach called cognitive therapy developed by her protege Anke Ehlers. The two vignettes last about 15 minutes each so we will have time to discuss reactions to the hearings and the plausibility of the testimony.
