Exploring Non-standard Pathways In Subcortical Vision

We have investigated physiology and anatomy of subcortical visual pathways that lie outside the main (parvocellular [P] and magnocellular [M]) retino- geniculo-cortical afferent channels. These non- standard pathways originate in multiple low-density classes of retinal output neurones that project to the koniocellular (K) layers of geniculate and to other tectal and thalamic nuclei. We still don't know much about the non-standard pathways, but we are making some progress.
