When: Monday, July 30th, 11:45-1:00 PM
Where: Stevenson Center (SC5326)
Title: Optical Molecular Imaging in Surgery and Radiation Therapy
Presenter: Brian Pogue, Professor of Engineering
Molecular guided surgery is growing both scientifically and commercially, providing the potential to bring some of the molecular pathology information to the surgeon, for real time decision making. In this talk, the use of exogenous dyes for surgical guidance will be discussed with specific examples of a new affibody agent that targets the EGF receptor in tumors. Additionally the use of optical imaging from Cherenkov light to guide radiation therapy dose delivery will be discussed, and the potential to use this light signal for molecular sensing.
