Engaging the interview that Gail Gerhart conducted with Steve Biko in 1972, Tendayi Sithole in this talk re-reads the archive and the interview as important sites for understanding Biko’s knowledge practices and subjectivity within the context of the apartheid regime and provides us with ways of further understanding Biko’s relevance for global radical resistance today.
Tendayi Sithole is Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of South Africa (UNISA) and the author of Steve Biko: Decolonial Meditations of Black Consciousness.
