An Evening of Card Game History and Whist Playing

Tuesday, March 27, 2018,

  • Location: Vanderbilt Central Library

Please join us for an evening of card game history and whist playing with David Levy, collector and historian of card games. In his lecture entitled, "You've Got Pirates!" Mr. Levy will explore Edmond Hoyle's A Short Treaty on the Game of Whist, the most important book ever written about a card game.

On view will be treasures from the Library's recent acquisition of the George Clulow and United States Playing Card Company Gaming Collection.

Following Mr. Levy's talk, there will be refreshments, music and the playing of whist, an easy card game to learn--no experience necessary!
