Join us as we discuss acclaimed writer Lydia R. Diamond’s play Smart People, produced by Nashville Repertory Theatre.  Set just before Barack Obama’s first election, the volatile dynamics of talking about race intertwine with the romantic interactions among four diverse Harvard intellectuals. A physician, an actress, a psychologist, and a neurobiologist all find that these discussions can turn unexpectedly, even among friends who are well educated and socially aware. With barbed wit, this smart play explores the inescapable nature of racism and other tricky topics.  We’ll see excerpts from the cast, discuss the show with director Jon Royal, and walk away enlightened that tough topics are awkward – but necessary – for all of us.

RESERVATIONS REQUIRED:  You must register to receive a complimentary lunch.  Box lunches will be provided for the first 300 people to respond.

Lunch is served at 11:30am, Program is noon - 1:00pm.

Cash donations will be accepted at the door.  Proceeds collected at this luncheon will be donated to Education At Nashville Rep.
