Nashville has been growing exponentially in the past years. This growth has had a great effect on urban planning and has moved around a great number of people in the city. Many areas of the city have been gentrified and many people, mostly low-income minorities have been pushed out of their homes.
Monday, December 4th in Alumni 201 from 7 to 9, there will be a panel discussion regarding the issue of gentrification. Gentrification often is an inevitable process, but it's important to discuss its consequences and the best way to help the displaced populations.
We will have the chance to hear from Dr. Malcom Getz, an economic professor working on urban planning, and Dr. Teresa Smallwood, a public theologian specializing on the issues of racial justice. Be on the lookout for more details regarding other panelists who own businesses in Nashville and residents of the Cayce Homes housing complex.
