Are We The Waiting? Not anymore - auditions for Vanderbilt Off-Broadway's production of Green Day's American Idiot are finally almost here! This groundbreaking musical follows a group of young people who become disillusioned with their suburban lifestyle and seek meaning among the thrills of the city, and features high-energy performances of the songs you know and love.
Please prepare up to two (contrasting) songs, each approximately one minute in length. Songs can be in the style of musical theater, rock, pop, punk, or related genres. Be sure to look for songs that represent you well as a singer and as a performer. Bring sheet music in the correct key printed off and in a three-ring binder with any cuts clearly labeled (reliable, transposable sheet music can be found at websites like http://www.musicnotes.com/). An audition accompanist will be available, but if you would like to demonstrate additional musical abilities, you are welcome to accompany yourself on guitar or piano. If you accompany yourself, sheet music is not required.
Please wear comfortable clothing and stick around for the group dance audition following that night's vocal auditions -- no preparation necessary, as we will teach you a short dance sequence. (No dance or theatre experience required.) Be sure to bring a list of all potential conflicts!
We are seeking strong singers and dancers with a whole lot of energy! All are encouraged to audition -- VOB is committed to building a community of performers from diverse backgrounds and experience levels. If you’re interested in working on the tech side of the show, stop by auditions and let us know! If you love to sing, dance, act, or design... VOB is the right place for you!
