These two great Englishmen were born less than two years apart, about 20 miles from each other in Gloucestershire. They became great friends, and on forays around rural Britain searching for folk songs, they discovered and preserved many treasures of the genre. As composers, while of very different temperaments, they shared much, and were both of huge importance to British music in the 20th century. The stunning Wightman Chapel at Scarritt Bennett Center will serve as host to this wonderful evening of music, conducted by Daniel Gordon, director of fine arts ministries at First Presbyterian Church of Lakeland, Fla., and former music director of the Ottawa Choral Society.
This event is free and open to the public. Parking for this event is available for free in West Garage (2500 Children's Way) through the Children's Way entrance.
