The Blakemore Trio and Friends, with lecture by Joy Calico

7 p.m.

Ingram Hall

The Blakemore Trio (Amy Dorfman, piano, Carolyn Huebl, violin, and Felix Wang, cello), bassist Evan Bish, clarinetist Bil Jackson, soprano Amy Jarman, and violist Christina McGann, along with musicologist Joy H. Calico, come together for this special lecture and performance to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Vanderbilt University’s Holocaust Lecture Series, a legacy program of the Office of the University Chaplain and Religious Life.

The program will include ANOTHER SUNRISE, a 2012 composition by Jake Heggie for soprano and chamber ensemble with libretto by Gene Scheer, based on the life and work of Holocaust survivor Krystyna Zywulska. Other compositions will include Prayer (Three Pieces from Jewish Life) by Ernest Bloch; Rhapsody No. 3 on Moldavian Themes Op. 47 by Mieczysław Weinberg; and String Trio by Gideon Klein.
