P.R.I.D.E. Training

Tuesday, June 13, 2017,

  • Location: Psychological and Counseling Center

The P.R.I.D.E. (Pursuing Respect, Inclusion, Diversity and Equity) program aims to create a visible network of support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and intersex (LGBTQI) individuals and their allies by providing an avenue through which any member of the Vanderbilt Community can show their support. The training is 3 hours and happens 2-3 times per semester.

By participating in the P.R.I.D.E. Training, we hope you will leave with the following outcomes:

  1. Understand basic LGBTQI+ terminology and understand the importance of continued education post-training.
  2. Communicate with intent, feeling, and understanding (specifically as it relates to identities of sexuality and gender).
  3. Recognize stereotypes, privilege, and intersectional identities (and how they affect our everyday lives/conversations).
  4. Understand how to continuously pursue allyship in a variety of settings, communities, and spaces.
  5. Know how to utilize resources (such as LGBTQI Life, as well as local and national resources) to educate ourselves and support others.
