Soltis String Quartet

Allie Stewart, Emily Richards, violin; Han Dewan, viola; Juliano Bitonti Stewart, cello

The Soltis String Quartet, formed in the fall of 2014, consists of members Allie Stewart (violin), Emily Richards (violin), Han Dewan (viola), and Juliano Bitonti Stewart (cello) - all students of Vanderbilt University’s Blair School of Music in Nashville, Tennessee.

Coached by John Kochanowski, current violist of the Blair String Quartet and former founding member of the Concord String Quartet, the Soltis String Quartet made their debut recital at the Blair School of Music in March 2015, performing Beethoven’s String Quartet in C Major, Op. 59 No. 3 and Shostakovich’s String Quartet in E-flat Major, Op. 117 No. 9.                                                                                                                                  In July 2015, the quartet performed several concerts in Aix-en-Provence, France, as part of the Vanderbilt Musique Academie program, where they studied intensely under Alessandro Capone, first violinist of the Berlin Philharmonic, along with world-acclaimed cellist, Christian-Pierre La Marca.

In the fall of 2015, the Soltis String Quartet enjoyed the opportunity to work with BMI composer and producer, Jack Stamp, recording his String Quartet No. 1 for his recently released album, And the Time Is, produced by Klavier Records and distributed by Naxos.  They look forward to performing a piece he just recently composed for them, Recitatives and Episodes.

The Soltis String Quartet has enjoyed learning a vast string quartet repertoire, gigging around the Nashville area, and performing at the Blair School of Music together over the past few years.  They will greatly miss each other as they continue their music education and musical careers across the United States.
