CABARET VANDERBILT: GENDER PLAY
Directed by Christin Essin, Assistant Professor of Theatre April 13, 14, 15 @ 8:00pm
"What good is sitting alone in your room? Come hear the music play..." VUTheatre presents an original performance inspired by early twentieth century European cabaret culture, a playfully irreverent and experimental variety show that invites audiences into a world where gender is fluid and open for interpretation. Actors, singers, dancers, and, of course, a mysterious master of ceremonies will use the stage as a playground for constructing identity, exploring and shattering stereotypes, charming and alarming old and young alike. "It's only a cabaret, old chum, and I love a cabaret."
