Medicine has evolved into a business, though (for better or for worse) we don't appreciate this fact. Beyond the foundations of traditional medical education, there are now A LOT of important things to know about. However, not everyone has the time to pursue an MD/MBA to learn about these topics. That is why we are bringing the knowledge TO you!
Current MD/MBA students will be leading an informal session catered towards you. We want to share with you the diamonds we have learned so far at Owen and teach you some of the nuts and bolts we think are most valuable. We are also happy to help answer any specific questions you might have, like
“What is the ACA? MACRA? (insert other acronym).”
“Can you explain what insurance companies do?”
“What are examples of businesses in healthcare?”
“How are non-profits and for-profits different?”
“Why do you claim that medicine is a business?”
No question is too basic. Our goal is to speak on a student-to-student level so that you leave really understanding more about the U.S. healthcare system.
Hope to see you there!
