Pharmacy Services Impact on Health of Pharmacy Desert Residents

Friday, January 13, 8:30-10:00 AM

This month’s Community Research Partners meeting will feature Organized Neighbors of Edgehill (ONE) and their Vanderbilt University School of Nursing research partners.  The presentation will focus on a  study of how access to pharmacy services impacts the health of Edgehill residents.   In a previous study in 2012, the Edgehill neighborhood was identified as a “pharmacy desert”, where many residents faced physical and financial barriers in getting their medications.  This study looks deeper into how problems around medication affect residents’ health and wellbeing.  Discussion will also include next steps to improve pharmacy services for the Edgehill Community.

Presenters:

Rolanda Johnson, PhD, RN (Vanderbilt University School of Nursing)
