Did you know that around the world, 5.5 million children are trafficked? Did you know that traffickers make $150 billion annually on the backs of slaves? Did you know that human trafficking has been reported in all fifty states?
In order to spread awareness about this both domestic and global issue, Vanderbilt UNICEF is proud to present the country's first-ever UNICEF End Trafficking Week! We will be holding a film screening and discussion of the powerful documentary Not My Life (UNICEF Clubs have the rights to this movie and can screen it for free) on Tuesday, January 30 from 7:30-9:00 PM in Buttrick 101, hosting a dinner featuring free-trade food, and anchoring a panel of anti-trafficking experts. In addition, we are very excited to be hosting a concert with up-and-coming star Megan Wilde on Saturday, February 3, at 6:30 PM! Plus, throughout the week, drop by Library Lawn to check out our display, which takes you through the stories of two different trafficking victims while also providing supplementary details and statistics. GME credit pending.
